ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR -- PACT Program. Full-time/Full-year. Reports to: Director-PACT Program. Overview: The Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers is a two-year service-teaching program for recent graduates who teach in Catholic schools in New England. During the two years the teachers live in small, intentional, faith-based communities, participate in a program of spirituality, teach full-time in Catholic Schools and study towards a Master of Education at Providence College and earn eligibility for State certification as teachers through the State of Rhode Island. Currently PACT has teachers in four New England Catholic dioceses - Providence, Fall River, Worcester and Springfield. It is anticipated that the program will expand into other New England dioceses in the coming years. Essential functions: The Assistant Director will work in collaboration with the Director and contribute to the PACT program in the following areas: Perform supervisory visits to the PACT teachers in their schools; Act as the liaison with Principals and mentor teachers for each PACT Teacher; Foster the development of community life in each of the communities; Promote the spiritual development of the young teachers as Catholic educators; Teach one course during summer school; Recruit and select candidates for the program. Education and experience: Minimum of a Masters degree in Education, Religious Education, or Pastoral Ministry, preferably with significant study in Theology, Spirituality or experience in educational research and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of five years high school teaching experience in Catholic schools, with teacher certification in one high school content area. Some administrative experience is highly desirable - e.g., chair of a department, vice principal. Experience with supervision and mentoring of student-teachers. Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Education. Experience with faith-based community living and leading spiritual retreats for young adults. Must be an active member of a Catholic parish community.
